Lego Digital Design, or LDD is a free web 2.0 computer program produced by the LEGO GROUP. This computer program is compatible for both Mac (Macintosh OS X 10.3.9 or higher) and Windows (Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 platform).This tool allows users to build models using virtual LEGO bricks in different shapes and sizes. Your designs can be uploaded, along with instructions and a box design, to the Lego Design By Me website, from where the models can be ordered for delivery as a real, packaged set. Users can also take "screenshots" of their models and store the models on their computer in a .LDD File.

There are many different features in Lego Digital Designer, one of the most recognizable (coolest) feature of this Web 2.0 tool is when you finish your design, you can post it into the Design By Me website, then, you can order your design and a box set, so you can build your design with your own hands. Another feature in Lego Digital Design is that, if you are a beginner, you can start your own design by using a starter model. There are many starter models you can choose from, which includes planes and cars. You can also include mini figures (small figures that are made out of Lego, that resemble human) to make your models look more interesting and realistic.

Advantages

The advantages of Lego Digital Designer are it's free, and you can use this program both for playing and for business purposes such as using this program for interior design or using this tool to entertain yourselves. Lego Digital Designer is created for entertaining purposes, so the advantages depends on how you use it. If you are an interior designer, you can use this tool to your advantage in designing and imagining your different designs and build them with this tool.

Disadvantages

The disadvantages of Lego Digital Designer are there may be bricks or different shapes and sizes, but if you would like more bricks, you must purchase them through the Design By Me website (which costs pretty much a lot of money). Another disadvantage about Lego Digital Designer is the features are sometimes really hard or slow to process. This is all Lego Digital Design has as a disadvantage. The rest, features and the tool itself, is really good and fun to play to kill time.
